Narrative:

In a B737-900, I got distracted while deviating around thunderstorms, and let the center fuel tanks burn down to empty. As I (finally) scanned the fuel gauges, I noticed the center fuel quantity read '0,' and then saw the aft pump low pressure light was on. With WX deviations starting shortly after takeoff, I simply neglected to put my normal visual cue in place, and that, coupled with getting busy at the wrong time, led to this mistake.
