Narrative:
Flight was climbing or had just climbed to FL410 and was diverting around large area of thunderstorms over sierras. Center tank had just over 2000 pounds of fuel when center tank pumps were turned on. I noticed that pumps were still on with approximately 100 pounds remaining in center tank. Pumps turned off.

Title: A B737-700 WAS OPERATED IN NON COMPLIANCE OF AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE BY BURNING CTR TANK FUEL TO BELOW LIMITS OF DIRECTIVE.
Narrative: FLT WAS CLBING OR HAD JUST CLBED TO FL410 AND WAS DIVERTING AROUND LARGE AREA OF TSTMS OVER SIERRAS. CTR TANK HAD JUST OVER 2000 LBS OF FUEL WHEN CTR TANK PUMPS WERE TURNED ON. I NOTICED THAT PUMPS WERE STILL ON WITH APPROX 100 LBS REMAINING IN CTR TANK. PUMPS TURNED OFF.
