Narrative:
Shortly after departing runway 34 at ZZZ county airport, we noticed that the right nose baggage door had come open in-flight. I immediately reduced power and notified the tower that we were returning for a landing. While in the crosswind at approximately 500 ft MSL, the baggage door flew open and separated from the aircraft no other damage occurred to the aircraft and we landed without incident. To prevent future occurrences, I would suggest 2 things: 1) a redesign of the latches on the baggage door. They can be difficult to close and seem to wear over time. 2) I would suggest that the door open warning light microswitches be attached to the door lock. They are currently attached to the latches only. I would also suggest a stronger and more secure door lock.

Title: A C500 ON TKOF CLB AT 500 FT. CREW NOTED THE R NOSE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HAD OPENED. WHILE RETURNING TO THE FIELD THE DOOR CAME OFF.
Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTING RWY 34 AT ZZZ COUNTY ARPT, WE NOTICED THAT THE R NOSE BAGGAGE DOOR HAD COME OPEN INFLT. I IMMEDIATELY REDUCED PWR AND NOTIFIED THE TWR THAT WE WERE RETURNING FOR A LNDG. WHILE IN THE XWIND AT APPROX 500 FT MSL, THE BAGGAGE DOOR FLEW OPEN AND SEPARATED FROM THE ACFT NO OTHER DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE ACFT AND WE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
