Narrative:
During climb out from amsterdam, I was modifying the FMC with the planned mach number, descent and STAR for ZZZ when the 'insufficient fuel' message was generated. Upon investigation, I noted the payload as noted on the flight plan and the accurate load was 10.2K versus the actual 102K resulting in an upload fuel less than necessary. I contacted dispatch via the satcom and worked out a refile flight plan at a lower mach number. The flight landed in ZZZ without incident. Supplemental information from acn 622260: the captain noted that the aircraft did not have sufficient reserves to complete the flight plan as filed.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B767 FLT CREW RECEIVES AN INSUFFICIENT FUEL MESSAGE AFTER DEPARTING AMS FOR THE UNITED STATES.
Narrative: DURING CLBOUT FROM AMSTERDAM, I WAS MODIFYING THE FMC WITH THE PLANNED MACH NUMBER, DSCNT AND STAR FOR ZZZ WHEN THE 'INSUFFICIENT FUEL' MESSAGE WAS GENERATED. UPON INVESTIGATION, I NOTED THE PAYLOAD AS NOTED ON THE FLT PLAN AND THE ACCURATE LOAD WAS 10.2K VERSUS THE ACTUAL 102K RESULTING IN AN UPLOAD FUEL LESS THAN NECESSARY. I CONTACTED DISPATCH VIA THE SATCOM AND WORKED OUT A REFILE FLT PLAN AT A LOWER MACH NUMBER. THE FLT LANDED IN ZZZ WITHOUT INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 622260: THE CAPT NOTED THAT THE ACFT DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT RESERVES TO COMPLETE THE FLT PLAN AS FILED.
