Narrative:
I performed a preflight inspection on airline B767 at ZZZ airport at gate. The previous night on aug/thu/04, I inspected and svced #1 engine. At that time I observed no damage to the fan blades on #1 engine. Aircraft was towed from gate xy to remote parking. The next morning aircraft was towed from remote parking to gate xx. At that time I performed a predep walkaround aircraft and engines and again observe no damage to fan section of both engines. About 1/2 hour before aircraft departure maintenance observed fan blade damage to both #1 and #2 engine fan blades -- maintenance dressed both fan blades and damage was within maintenance manual limits and released aircraft for scheduled flight. Perhaps lighting and aircraft being towed 2 times to remote parking and back to gate xy. Also perhaps I was too lax on my walkaround inspection because I worked overnight check on this aircraft the previous night.

Title: A B767-300ER PREFLT INSPECTION WAS ACCOMPLISHED INCORRECTLY AND FAN BLADE DAMAGE WAS MISSED ON L AND R ENGS.
Narrative: I PERFORMED A PREFLT INSPECTION ON AIRLINE B767 AT ZZZ ARPT AT GATE. THE PREVIOUS NIGHT ON AUG/THU/04, I INSPECTED AND SVCED #1 ENG. AT THAT TIME I OBSERVED NO DAMAGE TO THE FAN BLADES ON #1 ENG. ACFT WAS TOWED FROM GATE XY TO REMOTE PARKING. THE NEXT MORNING ACFT WAS TOWED FROM REMOTE PARKING TO GATE XX. AT THAT TIME I PERFORMED A PREDEP WALKAROUND ACFT AND ENGS AND AGAIN OBSERVE NO DAMAGE TO FAN SECTION OF BOTH ENGS. ABOUT 1/2 HR BEFORE ACFT DEP MAINT OBSERVED FAN BLADE DAMAGE TO BOTH #1 AND #2 ENG FAN BLADES -- MAINT DRESSED BOTH FAN BLADES AND DAMAGE WAS WITHIN MAINT MANUAL LIMITS AND RELEASED ACFT FOR SCHEDULED FLT. PERHAPS LIGHTING AND ACFT BEING TOWED 2 TIMES TO REMOTE PARKING AND BACK TO GATE XY. ALSO PERHAPS I WAS TOO LAX ON MY WALKAROUND INSPECTION BECAUSE I WORKED OVERNIGHT CHK ON THIS ACFT THE PREVIOUS NIGHT.
