An L4 part number door escape slide was installed in the L3 door position. These slides are nearly identical and no installation problems were encountered. These slides are not interchangeable.

Title: MECH RPTS HE WAS ABLE TO INSTALL A B777-200 ESCAPE SLIDE AT DOOR L3 THAT WAS INTENDED FOR USE ONLY AT DOOR L4.
Narrative: AN L4 PART NUMBER DOOR ESCAPE SLIDE WAS INSTALLED IN THE L3 DOOR POS. THESE SLIDES ARE NEARLY IDENTICAL AND NO INSTALLATION PROBS WERE ENCOUNTERED. THESE SLIDES ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.
