Narrative:
Left 1500 ft on teb 5 departure early. Runway 24 departure left 1500 ft before the 4.5 DME fix. Flying pilot thought he heard the controller clear us to 2000 ft. FAA 135 regulations allow too many duty hours and too little rest. Employers push pilots to the limits allowed as normal practice. Fatigue was main contributing factor.
