Narrative:
Air carrier X was turned for spacing to mem. He was descending from FL300 to FL240. I thought he would get under air carrier Y at FL280. His descent was not good enough; so I turned both aircraft away from each other.

Title: ZME CTLR EXPERIENCED OPERROR AT FL270 WHEN MISJUDGING THE DSCNT RATE OF AN MEM ARR THAT CONFLICTED WITH ANOTHER ACR.
Narrative: ACR X WAS TURNED FOR SPACING TO MEM. HE WAS DSNDING FROM FL300 TO FL240. I THOUGHT HE WOULD GET UNDER ACR Y AT FL280. HIS DSCNT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH; SO I TURNED BOTH ACFT AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.
