Narrative:
I contacted chandler ATC when I was 15 mi east of them; which was about 3 mi southeast of williams gateway. I misread the sectional and flew into airspace controled by williams gateway. I crossed a couple mi off the end of runway 12 at 2800 ft; which was 200 ft higher than their pattern altitude. At the same time; a small twin engine aircraft passed underneath me. By that time; when I was well within williams gateway airspace; I had made contact with williams gateway ATC. I had been in radio contact with chandler ATC but they informed me to contact williams gateway. Just after I contacted them; I saw the small twin below me and to the right. That plane passed underneath me then turned right to the same heading I was on. I climbed to 3000 ft or so to stay well clear. While the incident was my fault; I think chandler ATC and williams gateway ATC should have been more attentive. Chandler should have informed me earlier to contact the correct facility while williams gateway should have directed the small twin away from me.

Title: C177 HAS AN NMAC WITH A LIGHT TWIN AFTER AN UNAUTH PENETRATION OF IWA AIRSPACE.
Narrative: I CONTACTED CHANDLER ATC WHEN I WAS 15 MI E OF THEM; WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MI SE OF WILLIAMS GATEWAY. I MISREAD THE SECTIONAL AND FLEW INTO AIRSPACE CTLED BY WILLIAMS GATEWAY. I CROSSED A COUPLE MI OFF THE END OF RWY 12 AT 2800 FT; WHICH WAS 200 FT HIGHER THAN THEIR PATTERN ALT. AT THE SAME TIME; A SMALL TWIN ENG ACFT PASSED UNDERNEATH ME. BY THAT TIME; WHEN I WAS WELL WITHIN WILLIAMS GATEWAY AIRSPACE; I HAD MADE CONTACT WITH WILLIAMS GATEWAY ATC. I HAD BEEN IN RADIO CONTACT WITH CHANDLER ATC BUT THEY INFORMED ME TO CONTACT WILLIAMS GATEWAY. JUST AFTER I CONTACTED THEM; I SAW THE SMALL TWIN BELOW ME AND TO THE R. THAT PLANE PASSED UNDERNEATH ME THEN TURNED R TO THE SAME HDG I WAS ON. I CLBED TO 3000 FT OR SO TO STAY WELL CLR. WHILE THE INCIDENT WAS MY FAULT; I THINK CHANDLER ATC AND WILLIAMS GATEWAY ATC SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ATTENTIVE. CHANDLER SHOULD HAVE INFORMED ME EARLIER TO CONTACT THE CORRECT FACILITY WHILE WILLIAMS GATEWAY SHOULD HAVE DIRECTED THE SMALL TWIN AWAY FROM ME.
