Narrative:

Air carrier's are filing flight plans with similar sounding call signs. Despite numerous attempts to correct this problem; it continues. The potential for error increases when call signs are so similar. As you can well imagine; in an environment where hearback/readback clearance errors is on the rise; this can easily be avoided by using call signs that aren't so similar.

Title: CLT CTLR EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING THE USE OF SIMILAR CALL SIGNS FOR ACR OPS AND THE POTENTIAL FOR BOTH PLT AND ATC ERRORS.

Narrative: ACR'S ARE FILING FLT PLANS WITH SIMILAR SOUNDING CALL SIGNS. DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THIS PROB; IT CONTINUES. THE POTENTIAL FOR ERROR INCREASES WHEN CALL SIGNS ARE SO SIMILAR. AS YOU CAN WELL IMAGINE; IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE HEARBACK/READBACK CLRNC ERRORS IS ON THE RISE; THIS CAN EASILY BE AVOIDED BY USING CALL SIGNS THAT AREN'T SO SIMILAR.
