Narrative:
On reposition flight; aircraft deviated from the teb 5 departure procedure. On pre takeoff brief; first officer briefed 040 degree heading up to 1500 ft; then direct pnj and climb and maintain 3000 ft. I flew procedure as briefed. ATC advised that the proper procedure was climb 1500 ft then turn to pnj and climb 2000 ft after pnj climb 3000 ft. Factors were: both pilots need to read departure procedure prior to takeoff. Crew fatigue.
