Narrative:
During descent into hou ILS runway 12R; approach cleared us to descend to cross jabbs at 2000 ft; cleared for the visual approach to runway 12R. Descending from 6000 ft down thru 2500 ft; approach asked me if I had read back 2000 feet as our descent clearance. I replied that I had read back 2000 ft. He said something to the effect of; 'I wish they would change that approach chart. I had only cleared you down to 4000 ft at jabbs; but I didn't catch your (pilot's) incorrect readback. No problem.' no conflicts were present; or anticipated. Here's the problem; other than the controller not catching my incorrect readback. The chart for ILS runway 12R at hou showed jabbs intersection at 2000 ft. Has been that way for years; and for years we've been cleared down to 2000 ft. If indeed ATC is going to be routinely giving us 4000 ft at jabbs; this chart should be changed.

Title: ACR CAPTAIN REPORTS COPYING CLEARED ALTITUDE FROM HOU APCH INCORRECTLY AND MISSING A CROSSING ALT; AT LEAST IN PART BECAUSE THE HOU COMMERCIAL APCH CHART SHOWS A DIFFERENT; LOWER CROSSING ALT.
Narrative: DURING DESCENT INTO HOU ILS RWY 12R; APPROACH CLEARED US TO DESCEND TO CROSS JABBS AT 2000 FT; CLEARED FOR THE VISUAL APPROACH TO RWY 12R. THE CHART FOR ILS RWY 12R AT HOU SHOWED JABBS INTERSECTION AT 2000 FT. HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR YEARS; AND FOR YEARS WE'VE BEEN CLEARED DOWN TO 2000 FT. IF INDEED ATC IS GOING TO BE ROUTINELY GIVING US 4000 FT AT JABBS; THIS CHART SHOULD BE CHANGED.
