Narrative:
During preflight preparation for departure from rno; I noticed a nonstandard and unfamiliar to me routing. I checked the route in the FMC; including fixes on the legs page and noticed some fixes were incorrect. The first officer and I made the necessary changes. One of my first mistakes was fixating on the route changes and not reading the complete pre departure clearance which issued the fmg 7 and later in the text (which I missed) a note to 'fly i-rno localizer south course; expect vector on course.' since we are nearly always issued the RENO4.fmg; I reread the departure during taxi to verify the D3 left turn to fmg; had the first officer bring up the pre departure clearance page again to verify the fmg 7 and again did not see the note. It was the last line on the page. We took off; started the turn at 3 DME. Our controller quickly noticed the turn and vectored us on the desired track. There were no conflicts with other aircraft so ATC did not seem particularly concerned. After we got to altitude; we reread the pre departure clearance and I finally saw the note which explained our mistake. My personal corrective action is to ensure I read the entire pre departure clearance to 'end of message' every time and not let distrs like the mentioned revised routing distract me from that crucial task. In this instance; it seems like filing the RENO4 would have been a much more straightforward means of achieving the desired ground track for ATC. However; I'm not whining; I definitely made a mistake.

Title: B737-700 FLT CREW FAIL TO TAKE NOTE OF REVISION TO THE PDC CLRNC. FLY SID VICE LOC COURSE AS DIRECTED BY THAT NOTE ON DEPARTURE.
Narrative: DURING PREFLT PREPARATION FOR DEP FROM RNO; I NOTICED A NONSTANDARD AND UNFAMILIAR TO ME ROUTING. I CHKED THE RTE IN THE FMC; INCLUDING FIXES ON THE LEGS PAGE AND NOTICED SOME FIXES WERE INCORRECT. THE FO AND I MADE THE NECESSARY CHANGES. ONE OF MY FIRST MISTAKES WAS FIXATING ON THE RTE CHANGES AND NOT READING THE COMPLETE PDC WHICH ISSUED THE FMG 7 AND LATER IN THE TEXT (WHICH I MISSED) A NOTE TO 'FLY I-RNO LOC S COURSE; EXPECT VECTOR ON COURSE.' SINCE WE ARE NEARLY ALWAYS ISSUED THE RENO4.FMG; I REREAD THE DEP DURING TAXI TO VERIFY THE D3 L TURN TO FMG; HAD THE FO BRING UP THE PDC PAGE AGAIN TO VERIFY THE FMG 7 AND AGAIN DID NOT SEE THE NOTE. IT WAS THE LAST LINE ON THE PAGE. WE TOOK OFF; STARTED THE TURN AT 3 DME. OUR CTLR QUICKLY NOTICED THE TURN AND VECTORED US ON THE DESIRED TRACK. THERE WERE NO CONFLICTS WITH OTHER ACFT SO ATC DID NOT SEEM PARTICULARLY CONCERNED. AFTER WE GOT TO ALT; WE REREAD THE PDC AND I FINALLY SAW THE NOTE WHICH EXPLAINED OUR MISTAKE. MY PERSONAL CORRECTIVE ACTION IS TO ENSURE I READ THE ENTIRE PDC TO 'END OF MESSAGE' EVERY TIME AND NOT LET DISTRS LIKE THE MENTIONED REVISED ROUTING DISTRACT ME FROM THAT CRUCIAL TASK. IN THIS INSTANCE; IT SEEMS LIKE FILING THE RENO4 WOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH MORE STRAIGHTFORWARD MEANS OF ACHIEVING THE DESIRED GND TRACK FOR ATC. HOWEVER; I'M NOT WHINING; I DEFINITELY MADE A MISTAKE.
