Narrative:

I was working approximately 20 aircraft. I took a handoff on an aircraft at FL240 headed sbound. I then turned the aircraft to the west and climbed the aircraft to FL250 to miss traffic at FL240. I then turned the aircraft further west to miss traffic at FL250; but I was too late and separation was lost. The aircraft passed 4 mi apart at FL250. The incident occurred because there were way too many aircraft in the airspace. Traffic management unit did nothing to help with the flow of traffic through the sector.
