Narrative:
During taxi in at ZZZZ; I had a fire alert for the forward lower cargo compartment. I stopped the aircraft and performed my emergency procedures in accordance with company and md-11 flight manuals. I also called out the airport fire trucks as a precautionary follow-up. I also contacted my company operations and had a mechanic sent out to my stopped location. The mechanic verified through inspection of the compartment and walk around of the aircraft that there was no actual fire. Since the airport fire trucks had not arrived and it was verified by visual inspection by the mechanic through constant communication via the interphone system; I canceled the fire truck callout and continued taxiing into the ramp area and blocked in uneventfully and with shutdown.
