Narrative:
After being on ready reserve all day long I was given an assignment with a red eye segment to an east coast airport and immediately working back on the early morning flight from the east coast to an airport half way across the country. Having been on ready reserve all day. I was given the standard four hour call out in the early evening. Being on ready reserve there was no opportunity to prepare for such a treacherous trip - meaning a nap. Having been up since early morning (being on duty all day on ready reserve) I had been up for over twenty-six hours by the time I got back home. This did not feel like a safe trip and the entire crew felt unsafe performing our duties with no sleep. It would be my hope that in the future the FAA would be able to crack down on such trips; which are not safe.
