Narrative:

Cleared for a visual approach to runway 12 right downwind. The captain was flying the aircraft. Coast approach called traffic at 10 O'clock, 3 mi. We had no contact. Abeam the departure end of runway 30 lgb. A red and white small aircraft xed our 12 O'clock position heading approximately 110 degrees. I first saw the aircraft and said, 'airplane,' grabbed the yoke and yanked back to climb. The maneuver was very abrupt and our aircraft climbed approximately 100-150'. This occurred about 15-30 seconds after coast approach's first traffic report. A report was immediately made to coast approach on 127.2 and a follow up phone call on the ground. The remainder of the approach and landing were normal.
