Narrative:
Inbound on boids 9 arrival at 6000' MSL, regional approach called traffic at 12 O'clock, 4 mi, indicating 5900'. I suggested a turn and ATC hesitated and then suggested 20 degrees right. I turned 40 degrees to the right. It was then that my copilot spotted the aircraft at our 10 O'clock and same altitude.

Title: NMAC SMT AND SMA.
Narrative: INBND ON BOIDS 9 ARR AT 6000' MSL, REGIONAL APCH CALLED TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK, 4 MI, INDICATING 5900'. I SUGGESTED A TURN AND ATC HESITATED AND THEN SUGGESTED 20 DEGS RIGHT. I TURNED 40 DEGS TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS THEN THAT MY COPLT SPOTTED THE ACFT AT OUR 10 O'CLOCK AND SAME ALT.
