Narrative:
[We were] in level westbound cruise flight at FL340. A TCAS TA annunciation occurred followed by an RA to descend. An eastbound target appeared to be above our altitude and in turn to the left. Autopilot was disconnected and the TCAS avoidance guidance command was followed. Vertical separation was roughly 600 ft and lateral separation was estimated to be less than 1/4 mile. After TCAS 'clear of conflict' was issued; returned to FL340. Remainder of flight was normal.
Original NASA ASRS Text
