Narrative:
The MD80 was on the crosswind departure heading 080 climbing to 10;000 ft. Traffic was issued on the B757 that was an arrival level at 11;000 ft. Traffic had crossed and I climbed the MD80 out of 10;000 and got into the wake remnants of the B757. Recommendation; wait to climb!

Title: TRACON Controller described a 'Wake Remnant' separation event when climbing a departure aircraft through the altitude of a level arrival B757 at 11;000 FT.
Narrative: The MD80 was on the crosswind departure heading 080 climbing to 10;000 FT. Traffic was issued on the B757 that was an arrival level at 11;000 FT. Traffic had crossed and I climbed the MD80 out of 10;000 and got into the wake remnants of the B757. Recommendation; wait to climb!
