Narrative:
Navigating to slc VFR in scattered thunderstorms. VFR with flight following from or. Too low for continuous radar contact. Thought I was north of location and west of restr area, but deviations for thunderstorms resulted in navigation error. Contacted ZLC and surprised to find myself already 3 mi into restr airspace. Promptly complied with vectoring out of same to north. No other complications. Main contributing factor was difficulty with precise fixes based on landmarks in adverse WX and delayed recognition of position. Contributing factor was distraction from avoiding scattered thunderstorms.
