Narrative:
On final approach; the captain (pilot flying) called for flaps 20; gear down; final descent checklist. After moving the flap handle to 20 and lowering the gear handle to the down position; we got a 'te flap disagree' EICAS message. The flap indicator had stopped at approximately 17 units. We did a go around with approach and they maneuvered us east of the airport. We accomplished the (B757) 'te flap disagree' irregular procedures checklist. The flaps were moved to position 20 with the checklist. With the checklist done; approach vectored us back to a landing. Emergency equipment was standing by and released after an uneventful flaps 20 landing.
