Narrative:
Flying skydivers over devener airport for the purpose of a parachute jump we came close to a large aircraft, the jumpers (4) and myself saw the plane and were taking action to avoid it while it was too close for comfort I don't believe we or the other plane were in danger because we were watching it and turned to get further from its flight path. We also dropped altitude. Still we were in touch with baltimore and had requested any traffic they could give us. Their workload must have been too busy. They medium large transport saw us and also told baltimore we were too close. I understand that in the world of aviation there seems to be no place for skydivers, but feel that if the controllers could ask the larger planes for just a little deviation, like degree to the other side of the victor airways it would be safer for all concerned. The airway is close to the drop zone but it seems they hug the right side of it when going east-west or especially esw. The drop zone in question has been established for 30 years.
