Narrative:
Departure control cleared aircraft to 14000' and to turn right to a heading of 360 degrees. As the aircraft approached inbound aircraft corridor, ATC advised we had traffic at 10 O'clock, 4 mi at 11000'. He then realized his error and reclred us to 10000'. We were at 9500' MSL at that time. We received clearance to 10000' and easily made the transition. Controller apologized and said he thought we were on a wbound departure instead of a north departure. We saw the other aircraft and were never close.
