Narrative:
While at cruise at FL360 on L451 approaching jains intersection; we encountered a line of thunderstorms approximately 150 miles long. Requested and obtained clearance from new york oceanic to deviate up to 80 miles. We were unable to get through the line of thunderstorms at 80 miles and we were unable to contact new york oceanic in order to obtain clearance to deviate further. We followed fom procedures including transmitting in the blind and continued to 110 miles off course before we were able to get across the line. Finally we were able to receive clearance to proceed direct to the following way point.
