Narrative:
The problem arose from the fact that I was taking off from runway 35 at the same time another, high fixed wing type, airplane was landing on runway 04. I thought he had just turned final and therefore I would have plenty of time to takeoff. The fact that we were on separate runways is what caused the incident. Because we were on separate runways, he was farther away from me and appeared to be farther from the end of the runway than he actually was. The other pilot, being behind me apparently felt that it was possibly unsafe to land and did a go around.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: NMAC BETWEEN 2 GA ACFT AT NON TWR ARPT DURING TKOF LNDG PHASE ON INTERSECTING RWYS.
Narrative: THE PROB AROSE FROM THE FACT THAT I WAS TAKING OFF FROM RWY 35 AT THE SAME TIME ANOTHER, HIGH FIXED WING TYPE, AIRPLANE WAS LNDG ON RWY 04. I THOUGHT HE HAD JUST TURNED FINAL AND THEREFORE I WOULD HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO TKOF. THE FACT THAT WE WERE ON SEPARATE RWYS IS WHAT CAUSED THE INCIDENT. BECAUSE WE WERE ON SEPARATE RWYS, HE WAS FARTHER AWAY FROM ME AND APPEARED TO BE FARTHER FROM THE END OF THE RWY THAN HE ACTUALLY WAS. THE OTHER PLT, BEING BEHIND ME APPARENTLY FELT THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY UNSAFE TO LAND AND DID A GAR.
