Narrative:
Approach from blue ridge. Vectored downwind at 210 KIAS to 5000', and later 4000' (from 11000'). Turned base just outside the marker. We popped out underneath at approximately 3500-4000'. The controller wanted us to take a visibility. We were far too high. He vectored us for a left downwind to 36L. 3 times I asked for an ATC phone #. I also told the controller to fill out a NASA report. Dfw is an accident waiting to happen!!
