Narrative:
We heard the tower talking to an aircraft that was on an instrument approach to runway 5R. This aircraft was supposed to sidestep to runway 5L for landing and was cleared to land on runway 5L. Immediately after that clearance was issued, we were cleared into position for takeoff on runway 5R. As we were taxiing into position I noticed that the aircraft on approach appeared that he had not yet begun his sidestep to the 5L runway. He was still very far out, however, so I could not be sure that he hadn't started his sidestep. After we were in position the approaching aircraft declared missed approach. He then flew directly over our aircraft on his missed approach. His altitude on flying over us appeared safely adequate, however, I feel that he never lined up with runway 5L for landing and that flying directly over us was possibly hazardous.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF ACFT ON IFR APCH OVERFLEW THE RWY WITH MLG AT END OF RWY READY FOR TKOF.
Narrative: WE HEARD THE TWR TALKING TO AN ACFT THAT WAS ON AN INSTRUMENT APCH TO RWY 5R. THIS ACFT WAS SUPPOSED TO SIDESTEP TO RWY 5L FOR LNDG AND WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 5L. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT CLRNC WAS ISSUED, WE WERE CLRED INTO POSITION FOR TKOF ON RWY 5R. AS WE WERE TAXIING INTO POSITION I NOTICED THAT THE ACFT ON APCH APPEARED THAT HE HAD NOT YET BEGUN HIS SIDESTEP TO THE 5L RWY. HE WAS STILL VERY FAR OUT, HOWEVER, SO I COULD NOT BE SURE THAT HE HADN'T STARTED HIS SIDESTEP. AFTER WE WERE IN POSITION THE APCHING ACFT DECLARED MISSED APCH. HE THEN FLEW DIRECTLY OVER OUR ACFT ON HIS MISSED APCH. HIS ALT ON FLYING OVER US APPEARED SAFELY ADEQUATE, HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT HE NEVER LINED UP WITH RWY 5L FOR LNDG AND THAT FLYING DIRECTLY OVER US WAS POSSIBLY HAZARDOUS.
