Narrative:

Nose of aircraft contacted jetway while making a 90 degree right turn parking maneuver. Signalman did not sufficiently lead the right turn of the aircraft and allowed the aircraft nose wheel to rest 2-3' outside the correct turning line. This fact combined with a jetway not stowed in a well defined parking area reduced the clearance thus causing slight contact between jetway and aircraft. Slight damage to radome, which had to be replaced. I feel the ground signalman was inadequately trained and that jetway parking is not a precise maneuver. There should be a well marked area in which to park the jetway for all aircraft parking. Supplemental information from acn 137607: radome struck rubber bumper on jetway cabin attendant floor end. Radome was scuffed and small puncture was created at point of contact. It appeared that the late turn plus wrong position of jetway obscured taxi signalman's view of nose in relation to the end of the jetway. The mechanic positioned to insert nose chocks saw impending strike but his stop signal came too late for first officer or captain to stop the aircraft before it struck the jetway.

Title: LGT TAXIES INTO JETWAY AT LGA WHILE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A GND SIGNALMAN. JETWAY WAS SLIGHTLY MISPARKED. RADOME DAMAGED.

Narrative: NOSE OF ACFT CONTACTED JETWAY WHILE MAKING A 90 DEG RIGHT TURN PARKING MANEUVER. SIGNALMAN DID NOT SUFFICIENTLY LEAD THE RIGHT TURN OF THE ACFT AND ALLOWED THE ACFT NOSE WHEEL TO REST 2-3' OUTSIDE THE CORRECT TURNING LINE. THIS FACT COMBINED WITH A JETWAY NOT STOWED IN A WELL DEFINED PARKING AREA REDUCED THE CLRNC THUS CAUSING SLIGHT CONTACT BETWEEN JETWAY AND ACFT. SLIGHT DAMAGE TO RADOME, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL THE GND SIGNALMAN WAS INADEQUATELY TRAINED AND THAT JETWAY PARKING IS NOT A PRECISE MANEUVER. THERE SHOULD BE A WELL MARKED AREA IN WHICH TO PARK THE JETWAY FOR ALL ACFT PARKING. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM ACN 137607: RADOME STRUCK RUBBER BUMPER ON JETWAY CAB FLOOR END. THE MECHANIC POSITIONED TO INSERT NOSE CHOCKS SAW IMPENDING STRIKE BUT HIS STOP SIGNAL CAME TOO LATE FOR F/O OR CAPT TO STOP THE ACFT BEFORE IT STRUCK THE JETWAY.
