Narrative:
On descent to 7000' I was describing standard and normally expected clrncs that our airline receives going into midway airport. The copilot was flying and had little experience in this type of aircraft. He became distracted as was I and descended below 7000' with the intention of leveling at 6000' (which is standard for this arrival sector). ATC queried us about our altitude thus alerting us to the deviation. A contributing factor is the nonstandardized altitude alert system on the air carrier fleet. There are 3 different systems installed in differing locations with differing warnings. For the most part we, as a crew, rely on each other for altitude alerts.

Title: ALT BUST.
Narrative: ON DSCNT TO 7000' I WAS DESCRIBING STANDARD AND NORMALLY EXPECTED CLRNCS THAT OUR AIRLINE RECEIVES GOING INTO MIDWAY ARPT. THE COPLT WAS FLYING AND HAD LITTLE EXPERIENCE IN THIS TYPE OF ACFT. HE BECAME DISTRACTED AS WAS I AND DESCENDED BELOW 7000' WITH THE INTENTION OF LEVELING AT 6000' (WHICH IS STANDARD FOR THIS ARR SECTOR). ATC QUERIED US ABOUT OUR ALT THUS ALERTING US TO THE DEVIATION. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IS THE NONSTANDARDIZED ALT ALERT SYSTEM ON THE ACR FLEET. THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN DIFFERING LOCATIONS WITH DIFFERING WARNINGS. FOR THE MOST PART WE, AS A CREW, RELY ON EACH OTHER FOR ALT ALERTS.
