Narrative:
After departing phx international airport, I noticed that some aircraft were holding and some were diverting to alternates. WX was clear and visibility unrestricted. The problem was that the temperature was 121 degree F. We landed only a few mins before at 118 degree F and I guess you don't expect it to get much warmer, but it did. I thought we were currect on ATIS, but the temperature of 121 degree F was missed. I checked our departure temperature was 121 degree F prior to takeoff. The tower asked if we had the latest ATIS. What I wished they would have said that the magic temperature of 121 degree F had arrived. With full power and a 10 KT headwind, takeoff was no problem. But having exceeded 120 degree F is a problem. My medium large transport a limitation section prints this limit out in black and white, but my large transport B manual uses a graph and really doesn't spell out the magic number. I thought the limiting temperature was 122 degree F but again I was wrong. I don't know how often this event takes place, but I fell into the condition that put me there. I also believe that our new fancy ACARS that sends weight and balance over the CRT makes the engineer a little lazy. I don't know why operations failed to update our ACARS information on taxi out, but this wasn't done also.

Title: LGT FLT CREW EXCEEDS MAX OAT LIMITATION FOR TKOF AS LISTED IN ACFT FLT MANUAL.
Narrative: AFTER DEPARTING PHX INTL ARPT, I NOTICED THAT SOME ACFT WERE HOLDING AND SOME WERE DIVERTING TO ALTERNATES. WX WAS CLR AND VISIBILITY UNRESTRICTED. THE PROB WAS THAT THE TEMP WAS 121 DEG F. WE LANDED ONLY A FEW MINS BEFORE AT 118 DEG F AND I GUESS YOU DON'T EXPECT IT TO GET MUCH WARMER, BUT IT DID. I THOUGHT WE WERE CURRECT ON ATIS, BUT THE TEMP OF 121 DEG F WAS MISSED. I CHKED OUR DEP TEMP WAS 121 DEG F PRIOR TO TKOF. THE TWR ASKED IF WE HAD THE LATEST ATIS. WHAT I WISHED THEY WOULD HAVE SAID THAT THE MAGIC TEMP OF 121 DEG F HAD ARRIVED. WITH FULL PWR AND A 10 KT HEADWIND, TKOF WAS NO PROB. BUT HAVING EXCEEDED 120 DEG F IS A PROB. MY MLG A LIMITATION SECTION PRINTS THIS LIMIT OUT IN BLACK AND WHITE, BUT MY LGT B MANUAL USES A GRAPH AND REALLY DOESN'T SPELL OUT THE MAGIC NUMBER. I THOUGHT THE LIMITING TEMP WAS 122 DEG F BUT AGAIN I WAS WRONG. I DON'T KNOW WHY OPS FAILED TO UPDATE OUR ACARS INFO ON TAXI OUT, BUT THIS WASN'T DONE ALSO.
