Narrative:
Controller mistakenly cleared us across runway 14 at srq when he meant to clear us across runway 22. We questioned him about clearance and we held short of runway 14 while another air carrier landed on runway 14. Controller was not aware of his mistake until we questioned him. It was the first officer's first trip to srq. If we would have followed controllers directions across runway 14 we would have taxied onto a taxiway not stressed for big jets. Controller did not apologize for his error.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACFT WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE GND CTLR TO CROSS AN ACTIVE RWY THAT WAS IN USE.
Narrative: CTLR MISTAKENLY CLRED US ACROSS RWY 14 AT SRQ WHEN HE MEANT TO CLR US ACROSS RWY 22. WE QUESTIONED HIM ABOUT CLRNC AND WE HELD SHORT OF RWY 14 WHILE ANOTHER AIR CARRIER LANDED ON RWY 14. CTLR WAS NOT AWARE OF HIS MISTAKE UNTIL WE QUESTIONED HIM. IT WAS THE F/O'S FIRST TRIP TO SRQ. IF WE WOULD HAVE FOLLOWED CTLRS DIRECTIONS ACROSS RWY 14 WE WOULD HAVE TAXIED ONTO A TXWY NOT STRESSED FOR BIG JETS. CTLR DID NOT APOLOGIZE FOR HIS ERROR.
