Narrative:
Power was applied for takeoff. Immediately after power application the takeoff warning confign horn sounded and parking brake message appeared on EICAS. Takeoff was immediately aborted. Aircraft had reached no more than 20 KTS during takeoff roll. Aircraft was stopped approximately 200' from takeoff end of runway. EICAS showed parking brake set. However, parking brake had been released prior to start of takeoff. Parking brake was cycled two or three times before parking brake light went out. We discussed runway remaining and aircraft performance and determined that takeoff could be made safely with remaining runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: TKOF ABORT.
Narrative: PWR WAS APPLIED FOR TKOF. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PWR APPLICATION THE TKOF WARNING CONFIGN HORN SOUNDED AND PARKING BRAKE MESSAGE APPEARED ON EICAS. TKOF WAS IMMEDIATELY ABORTED. ACFT HAD REACHED NO MORE THAN 20 KTS DURING TKOF ROLL. ACFT WAS STOPPED APPROX 200' FROM TKOF END OF RWY. EICAS SHOWED PARKING BRAKE SET. HOWEVER, PARKING BRAKE HAD BEEN RELEASED PRIOR TO START OF TKOF. PARKING BRAKE WAS CYCLED TWO OR THREE TIMES BEFORE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT. WE DISCUSSED RWY REMAINING AND ACFT PERFORMANCE AND DETERMINED THAT TKOF COULD BE MADE SAFELY WITH REMAINING RWY.
