Narrative:
Confusion in clearance. Issued mead 8 departure except to fly 060 degree vector to mead 8 to maintain 7000'. At 4000' MSL followed departure by turning direct to bld. Shortly thereafter issued traffic advisory followed by query on heading and thence given immediate left turn to 050 degrees. Observed traffic, an air carrier large transport 1-2 mi right descending from 7000 to 6000'.

Title: LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION WHEN AN ACR MLG FAILS TO FOLLOW RADAR VECTOR WHILE ON A SID FROM LAS.
Narrative: CONFUSION IN CLRNC. ISSUED MEAD 8 DEP EXCEPT TO FLY 060 DEG VECTOR TO MEAD 8 TO MAINTAIN 7000'. AT 4000' MSL FOLLOWED DEP BY TURNING DIRECT TO BLD. SHORTLY THEREAFTER ISSUED TFC ADVISORY FOLLOWED BY QUERY ON HDG AND THENCE GIVEN IMMEDIATE LEFT TURN TO 050 DEGS. OBSERVED TFC, AN ACR LGT 1-2 MI RIGHT DSNDING FROM 7000 TO 6000'.
