Narrative:
Aircraft was parked at the center hard stand spot next to the general purpose bldg. Cockpit received pushback clearance from ground control. During the pushback an electrical problem was discovered requiring maintenance action. The pushback crew was notified that we needed to return to our original hard stand position. The pushback was stopped on an active taxiway (F). Moments later a maintenance person entered the cockpit via the aft airstairs. He stated the required maintenance action would be completed shortly. He was informed by the captain that the aircraft was not authority/authorized to stop at its current position. Ground control was notified of the situation. A few mins later maintenance was completed and the aircraft departed the area. Unauthorized maintenance had been done on a taxiway. Crew was unable to stop same.
