Narrative:
Assigned 210 degrees for vectors visibility runway 5 at gso. Approach control asked us to report airport in sight west/O azimuth/mile reference. Int airport was 12 O'clock 7-8 mi. We reported it in sight and were cleared visibility approach to runway 5. We entered a right downwind for what turned out to be runway 33 at int and quickly realized the error confirmed with VOR and ILS indications. From there we proceeded to gso west/O further event. Contributing factors: no bearing/distance given by controller when asking if we had gso in sight. Cleared visibility in excess of 10 NM from gso, vector put int 12 O'clock/10 mi when cleared visibility, both airports have similar 'T' shaped plan view.

Title: ACR MLG TRACK HEADING DEVIATION WITH UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.
Narrative: ASSIGNED 210 DEGS FOR VECTORS VIS RWY 5 AT GSO. APCH CTL ASKED US TO RPT ARPT IN SIGHT W/O AZIMUTH/MILE REFERENCE. INT ARPT WAS 12 O'CLOCK 7-8 MI. WE RPTED IT IN SIGHT AND WERE CLRED VIS APCH TO RWY 5. WE ENTERED A R DOWNWIND FOR WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE RWY 33 AT INT AND QUICKLY REALIZED THE ERROR CONFIRMED WITH VOR AND ILS INDICATIONS. FROM THERE WE PROCEEDED TO GSO W/O FURTHER EVENT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: NO BEARING/DISTANCE GIVEN BY CTLR WHEN ASKING IF WE HAD GSO IN SIGHT. CLRED VIS IN EXCESS OF 10 NM FROM GSO, VECTOR PUT INT 12 O'CLOCK/10 MI WHEN CLRED VIS, BOTH ARPTS HAVE SIMILAR 'T' SHAPED PLAN VIEW.
