Narrative:
Flying lga-orf basic VFR. ZNY 'direct orf.' cannot maintain course due to intense and rapidly building thunderstorms. Got clearance to deviate, with caution that I might have to squawk 7700 to sanitize military operations area. No problem. Had to continue heading and center advised squawk 7700. Did so. Proceeded to orf. ATC helpful and professional as usual, no problem whatsoever. I am only filing this because the junior attorneys in the eastern region do not have the same reputation as the ATC controllers. Supplemental information from acn 246363: when we reached orf approach told us to squawk our original transponder code back. This was an operational necessity due to the WX. We were just one of numerous aircraft deviating around the same WX.

ATC HELPFUL AND PROFESSIONAL AS USUAL, NO PROB WHATSOEVER. I AM ONLY FILING THIS BECAUSE THE JUNIOR ATTORNEYS IN THE EASTERN REGION DO NOT HAVE THE SAME REPUTATION AS THE ATC CTLRS.
