Narrative:
Upon landing runway 13R aus, I left the runway and, as tower had issued no instructions, I asked tower if I should hold short runway 17 because of landing aircraft. Tower answered with, 'hold short runway 17 for landing aircraft.' after the aircraft landed on runway 17 and taxied past the intersection where I was holding, I taxied across runway 17 west/O further tower instruction. Tower then told me I had crossed west/O permission. I was then turned to ground and proceeded to park at an FBO. Upon arrival I was called by tower and reprimanded. I was aware of, and had in sight the aircraft landing on a runway intersecting the taxiway I was using. While I anticipated tower instructions. I was not told to hold short until I asked. I feel the terminology of the tower led me to believe I was clear to cross runway 17, following the passing of the aircraft.

Title: SMA HOLDS SHORT OF ACTIVE RWY, THEN CROSSES WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: UPON LNDG RWY 13R AUS, I LEFT THE RWY AND, AS TWR HAD ISSUED NO INSTRUCTIONS, I ASKED TWR IF I SHOULD HOLD SHORT RWY 17 BECAUSE OF LNDG ACFT. TWR ANSWERED WITH, 'HOLD SHORT RWY 17 FOR LNDG ACFT.' AFTER THE ACFT LANDED ON RWY 17 AND TAXIED PAST THE INTXN WHERE I WAS HOLDING, I TAXIED ACROSS RWY 17 W/O FURTHER TWR INSTRUCTION. TWR THEN TOLD ME I HAD CROSSED W/O PERMISSION. I WAS THEN TURNED TO GND AND PROCEEDED TO PARK AT AN FBO. UPON ARR I WAS CALLED BY TWR AND REPRIMANDED. I WAS AWARE OF, AND HAD IN SIGHT THE ACFT LNDG ON A RWY INTERSECTING THE TXWY I WAS USING. WHILE I ANTICIPATED TWR INSTRUCTIONS. I WAS NOT TOLD TO HOLD SHORT UNTIL I ASKED. I FEEL THE TERMINOLOGY OF THE TWR LED ME TO BELIEVE I WAS CLR TO CROSS RWY 17, FOLLOWING THE PASSING OF THE ACFT.
