Narrative:
Ground control 121.6 contacted and she replied: '...taxi to runway 20R.' me: 'taxi to runway 20R; my north number.' a few moments later when we had taxied about 300 yds, ground issued instructions 'amend your clearance, taxi to runway 34, hold short of runway 20R.' we were at position a. Me: 'ok, to runway 34, hold short of runway 20R.' I checked the airport diagram with our position, did a short 180 degree turn and entered taxiway charlie eastbound and stopped short of runway 20R as shown in the diagram (position 1). After a short time ground issued the folling instructions: '(my north number), cross runway 20R and 20L.' me: 'cross runway 20R and 20L, (my north number). I taxied directly ahead on taxiway charlie further to position 2 on the diagram (across both runway sections) and held short of runway 27. Ground then called me: '(my north number) you just xed a runway west/O a clearance.' I replied: 'I was cleared to cross runway 20R and 20L ma'am.' ground: 'you xed runway 34, an active runway, west/O a clearance. You were supposed to use taxiway bravo.' I replied 'sorry, I was cleared to cross runway 20R and 20L, there was no mention of taxiway bravo.' if I had turned, as ground said I was supposed to, onto bravo, to cross 20L, I would have xed runway 27-9 west/O a clearance! In other words, which ever of the two choices I had made, because the runways are crossing and superimposed on one another, I would have xed a runway west/O a clearance technically!

Title: GA SMA CROSSES ACTIVE RWY AT PDK WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: GND CTL 121.6 CONTACTED AND SHE REPLIED: '...TAXI TO RWY 20R.' ME: 'TAXI TO RWY 20R; MY N NUMBER.' A FEW MOMENTS LATER WHEN WE HAD TAXIED ABOUT 300 YDS, GND ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS 'AMEND YOUR CLRNC, TAXI TO RWY 34, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 20R.' WE WERE AT POS A. ME: 'OK, TO RWY 34, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 20R.' I CHKED THE ARPT DIAGRAM WITH OUR POS, DID A SHORT 180 DEG TURN AND ENTERED TXWY CHARLIE EBND AND STOPPED SHORT OF RWY 20R AS SHOWN IN THE DIAGRAM (POS 1). AFTER A SHORT TIME GND ISSUED THE FOLLING INSTRUCTIONS: '(MY N NUMBER), CROSS RWY 20R AND 20L.' ME: 'CROSS RWY 20R AND 20L, (MY N NUMBER). I TAXIED DIRECTLY AHEAD ON TXWY CHARLIE FURTHER TO POS 2 ON THE DIAGRAM (ACROSS BOTH RWY SECTIONS) AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 27. GND THEN CALLED ME: '(MY N NUMBER) YOU JUST XED A RWY W/O A CLRNC.' I REPLIED: 'I WAS CLRED TO CROSS RWY 20R AND 20L MA'AM.' GND: 'YOU XED RWY 34, AN ACTIVE RWY, W/O A CLRNC. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO USE TXWY BRAVO.' I REPLIED 'SORRY, I WAS CLRED TO CROSS RWY 20R AND 20L, THERE WAS NO MENTION OF TXWY BRAVO.' IF I HAD TURNED, AS GND SAID I WAS SUPPOSED TO, ONTO BRAVO, TO CROSS 20L, I WOULD HAVE XED RWY 27-9 W/O A CLRNC! IN OTHER WORDS, WHICH EVER OF THE TWO CHOICES I HAD MADE, BECAUSE THE RWYS ARE XING AND SUPERIMPOSED ON ONE ANOTHER, I WOULD HAVE XED A RWY W/O A CLRNC TECHNICALLY!
