Narrative:
After landing at white plains, ny, runway 34/16 and clearing the active taxiway H, ground control asked taxi destination. After answering GA tie-down, ground control instructed to taxi behind a gulfstream taxiing south on taxiway a and contact westchester unicom 122.95 for directions. After the gulfstream passed, I turned right onto taxiway a and followed. During this time the gulfstream and myself taxied across runway 11/29. After realizing the gulfstream was taxiing to the active, I stopped at the eastern most point of taxiway K and again asked unicom for directions for the GA tie-down. I was instructed to taxi back down taxiway a so they could visually guide me to the tie-down area. Again I crossed runway 11/29. I parked and was told by the unicom attendant that ground control stated that I had no clearance to cross runway 11/29. In the white plains NOTAMS, runway 11/29 was reported closed. At this time white plains control has not contacted me directly. This episode might have been averted if the ground controller had instructed me to turn left after the gulfstream had passed, resulting in taxiing the right way initially and avoiding runway 11/29 altogether.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACFT CROSSES ACTIVE RWY TWICE WITHOUT CLRNC. RWY INCURSION.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT WHITE PLAINS, NY, RWY 34/16 AND CLRING THE ACTIVE TXWY H, GND CTL ASKED TAXI DEST. AFTER ANSWERING GA TIE-DOWN, GND CTL INSTRUCTED TO TAXI BEHIND A GULFSTREAM TAXIING S ON TXWY A AND CONTACT WESTCHESTER UNICOM 122.95 FOR DIRECTIONS. AFTER THE GULFSTREAM PASSED, I TURNED R ONTO TXWY A AND FOLLOWED. DURING THIS TIME THE GULFSTREAM AND MYSELF TAXIED ACROSS RWY 11/29. AFTER REALIZING THE GULFSTREAM WAS TAXIING TO THE ACTIVE, I STOPPED AT THE EASTERN MOST POINT OF TXWY K AND AGAIN ASKED UNICOM FOR DIRECTIONS FOR THE GA TIE-DOWN. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI BACK DOWN TXWY A SO THEY COULD VISUALLY GUIDE ME TO THE TIE-DOWN AREA. AGAIN I CROSSED RWY 11/29. I PARKED AND WAS TOLD BY THE UNICOM ATTENDANT THAT GND CTL STATED THAT I HAD NO CLRNC TO CROSS RWY 11/29. IN THE WHITE PLAINS NOTAMS, RWY 11/29 WAS RPTED CLOSED. AT THIS TIME WHITE PLAINS CTL HAS NOT CONTACTED ME DIRECTLY. THIS EPISODE MIGHT HAVE BEEN AVERTED IF THE GND CTLR HAD INSTRUCTED ME TO TURN L AFTER THE GULFSTREAM HAD PASSED, RESULTING IN TAXIING THE RIGHT WAY INITIALLY AND AVOIDING RWY 11/29 ALTOGETHER.
