Narrative:
On takeoff from lga at 500 ft AGL (engine fire) warning came on. I retarded #2 engine to 1.80 EPR immediately. Warning persisted. We checked engine anti-ice valves and all valves were closed but engine #2 duct temperature gauge indicated 180 degree, much higher than normal. Since no amount of throttle reduction would get the warning to go out we shut down #2 engine, elected jfk for landing and landed overweight by 7000 pounds. The landing was smooth and all checklists related to the problem and normal procedures were read and followed.
