Narrative:

On VFR flight from macon, ms, to murfreesboro, tn, 12 mi out copilot called unicom 122.7 for airport advisories. No answer, knowing the wind was from northeast they would be using runway 36. When on left base and reported position also my final and then noticed an aircraft on right side of runway about 1/3 from south end. I came along on object side along parallel taxiway until passed the aircraft and diverted over on to the runway and landed on the remaining 2600 ft. Runway is 3900 ft. If some one had answered unicom and advised airport closed I would have diverted to another airport.
