Narrative:
During a taxi out for takeoff on runway 33 at orh, a back taxi downwind was required. The winds were gusty and variable in direction from west to northwest. All checklists were completed. During the takeoff roll, after takeoff power had been set between 60-80 KTS, a high pitch intermittent horn sounded. I felt it was the stall vane but with the short runway I chose the conservative approach, also the lack of a stick shaker confused me. All engine parameters were normal. We told the tower that we had an aural warning. A taxi back to the gate and subsequent telephone conversations with dispatch and maintenance control personnel concluded that the horn was caused by the abnormal position of one of the angle attack vanes which resulted from the downwind taxi. Both angle of attack vanes were at normal position prior to our second taxi out and no further problems were encountered.

Title: ACR MDT TKOF ABORT BECAUSE OF AN UNIDENTED WARNING HORN AT START OF TKOF.
Narrative: DURING A TAXI OUT FOR TKOF ON RWY 33 AT ORH, A BACK TAXI DOWNWIND WAS REQUIRED. THE WINDS WERE GUSTY AND VARIABLE IN DIRECTION FROM W TO NW. ALL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETED. DURING THE TKOF ROLL, AFTER TKOF PWR HAD BEEN SET BTWN 60-80 KTS, A HIGH PITCH INTERMITTENT HORN SOUNDED. I FELT IT WAS THE STALL VANE BUT WITH THE SHORT RWY I CHOSE THE CONSERVATIVE APCH, ALSO THE LACK OF A STICK SHAKER CONFUSED ME. ALL ENG PARAMETERS WERE NORMAL. WE TOLD THE TWR THAT WE HAD AN AURAL WARNING. A TAXI BACK TO THE GATE AND SUBSEQUENT TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT CTL PERSONNEL CONCLUDED THAT THE HORN WAS CAUSED BY THE ABNORMAL POS OF ONE OF THE ANGLE ATTACK VANES WHICH RESULTED FROM THE DOWNWIND TAXI. BOTH ANGLE OF ATTACK VANES WERE AT NORMAL POS PRIOR TO OUR SECOND TAXI OUT AND NO FURTHER PROBLEMS WERE ENCOUNTERED.
