Narrative:
Cpr X after takeoff got clearance from center to 4000 ft MSL and was radar contact 6 NM south of per VOR. We then were cleared to climb to 11,000 direct buj VOR. When passing 4800 ft MSL center said descend to 4,000, heading 270 immediately. Cpr X had aircraft Y at 12 O'clock and 2 mi at 5,000. Another voice (supervisor) came on and said continue to 300 degree heading. Then they told aircraft Y to turn to right to 090. We were headed south and the conflicting traffic was northbound. After a few mins we were cleared direct to buj VOR and the center apologized for inconvenience. We never did see the traffic.
