Narrative:

On approach to mem we were cleared the visual approach to runway 36L. We had the ILS tuned and idented and were flying the localizer and GS. Approach control was very busy at the time. At about 2300 ft to 2500 ft we received a TCASII RA and instructed to climb! Climb! Climb! By the TCASII RA. We cleared the area and proceeded to climb, putting the vsi in the appropriate þgreenþ climbing range. The captain instructed ATC of our go around and why. ATC gave us a clearance to level at 3000 ft. At 3000 ft we still had our TCASII RA active so we continued our climb as TCASII RA required. The climb RA ceased at approximately 3500 and said þmonitor vertical spdþ and we told ATC we could level at 4000 ft. A different voice answered from ATC and cleared us to þlevel at 4000 ft, runway heading, 190 KTS.þ we complied and the TCASII declared þclr of conflict.þ we followed ATC clrncs to another approach to 36L and landed without further incident.
