TCASII event -- got RA while in clouds level at 9000 to climb at 1800 FPM. Climbed to 9600 before conflict resolved. ATC said nearest traffic was ahead and 1400 ft below us. We returned to 9000 when TCASII said 'clear of conflict.' approach said there were no separation problems.

Narrative: TCASII EVENT -- GOT RA WHILE IN CLOUDS LEVEL AT 9000 TO CLB AT 1800 FPM. CLBED TO 9600 BEFORE CONFLICT RESOLVED. ATC SAID NEAREST TFC WAS AHEAD AND 1400 FT BELOW US. WE RETURNED TO 9000 WHEN TCASII SAID 'CLR OF CONFLICT.' APCH SAID THERE WERE NO SEPARATION PROBLEMS.
