Narrative:

Visibility on ground was poor due to rain. Side window visibility poor due to raindrops on side window. During turn from parallel taxiway to ramp gate area, a tug was moving on a service road next to taxiway south. When we turned left from taxiway south to approach the ramp area a tug contacted the left wing of our aircraft. At no time did either myself or the first officer ever have visual contact with the tug. Corrective action recommended vehicles using service road in vicinity of an active taxiway should have side vehicle lighting as well as red beacon or flashers.
