Narrative:
Being vectored to final to runway 26R at den, heading 340 degrees at 11000 ft. Received TA from TCASII that went to RA with instruction to climb. First officer started to climb when company medium large transport was seen coming straight at us at 11000 ft. ATC gave us a left turn to 260 degrees at this time and the medium large transport was in a left turn when we saw him. Don't believe that 2 aircraft should be coming at each other at the same altitude within 3 mi of each other. During the turns, all crew members, believe that the 2 aircraft were 1 1/2 - 2 mi apart. Needless to say this is not a good situation. Talked to ATC and company aircraft was told about us and he informed ATC that he had us in sight. When ATC was calling us his transmission was blocked by other aircraft arriving den. ATC claimed aircraft did not get within 3 mi of each other. Continued left turn to final and landed.
