Narrative:
Being vectored for visual/ILS approach to runway 01 msy. In vicinity of NAS new orleans at 4000 ft received TA followed by RA from TCASII and complied. Don't believe deviated from clearance in this process. We queried approach control (traffic was not issued). A second voice advised that the traffic had us in sight but approach did not have time to issue him to us. Maneuvers to comply with RA were abrupt enough I felt it necessary to explain to the passenger.
