Narrative:

On takeoff from dfw runway 36R, a red gear nose light remained on when landing gear handle was raised. All procedures followed with no success. A left downwind to runway 36L was requested and granted. An overweight landing was made. Landing smooth and normal. Both maximum runway limited weight and maximum climb limited weight were not exceeded. Maintenance and dispatch notified. Aircraft was taken OTS.
